Trusted Assessor - Accredited

The two-day workshops have been developed from the Trusted Assessor Competency Framework commissioned by the Department of Health. It is accredited at Level 2 by the Open College Network.

How will this course benefit me or my employees?

Trusted Assessors will undertake a comprehensive training programme to achieve competency against a set of criteria based upon the Competence Framework for Trusted Assessors which is drawn from the National Occupational Standards for Health and Social Care. The training programme provides a comprehensive package of workshops, self-directed learning and learner support.

The 4 units which comprise the programme are accredited by the Open College Network (OCN) at level 2, and learners will work towards gaining the Trusted Assessor Award by demonstrating competence against set 'learning outcomes' through workshop activities and case studies.

Following the workshops learners will also be required to submit a Practice File relevant to the workshop topics, which is designed to meet the specific learning outcomes.

There will also be an opportunity for reflective activities and planning of future developments to learning and practice.

The 2 day workshops cover the 4 knowledge based units, are led by qualified and experienced ILP facilitators and include a range of directed activities and discussion sessions prompted by the unit learning outcomes.

On successful completion of the Award, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of the Trusted Assessor Competencies and the contribution that application of those competencies will make to independent living.

  • Apply a person-centred approach to providing effective solutions that meet individual’s needs.

  • Through listening to individuals, identify the barriers to their independence and provide effective solutions to overcoming those barriers.

  • Identify and demonstrate the use of products designed to give independence, and understand how non-standard solutions can also contribute to a person's independence.

  • Identify sources of information, products and resources that may enhance independence.
