Session Aims

This is an awareness session to promoting health feet and foot care, it is aimed at anyone with an interest in keeping their own feet and those of a loved one or person they care for, healthy by exploring benefits of a good foot care regime to help prevent foot problems / conditions.


Learning outcomes

By the end of the awareness session learners will be able to identify:

  • Good foot wear when choosing new socks and shoes
  • When it's time to throw aware that comfy pair of slippers.
  • Common complaints, and how to avoid, when to seek professional advice and when to refer on.


Session Content

  • Every good foot care / prevention
  • Looking at and identifying common foot complaints
  • The importance of looking after the diabetic foot


Practical demonstrations and practice including:

  • Items to help with putting on socks / shoes
  • Exploring positive / negative elements of design and fit when considering what makes for good, supportive shoes / socks
  • Visual signs of some common foot conditions
