Course Aims

• To identify different types of wheelchair
• To look at simple maintenance
• To give advice on safe ways to push wheelchairs
• Managing kerbs and difficult turns
• Lifting wheelchairs in and out of vehicles

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:

• Understand different types of wheelchair
• Check wheelchairs to identify maintenance needs
• Support wheelchair users to move around safely
• Safely lift wheelchairs in and out of vehicles

Learners will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in safe use of wheelchairs.
